| Full name: Nymphadora Black Nicknames: Dora; the name “Tonks” never had any reason to come into being. Birthdate and age: April 17, 1972 Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Be creative! Alumnus: Dora went to Hogwarts for a year and a half, before it closed, and had been a Hufflepuff. Now she attends St. Kashmir’s. Bloodline: Halfblood Hometown and current residence: Please describe, if you wish! Family: Dora’s mother and father, Ted and Andromeda Tonks, died when she was very young, and she barely remembers them, which upsets her. From that point on, her uncle Sirius Black has served as her father, her hero, and her best friend. Though she gets angry with him a lot (who doesn’t get angry with their parents?), he is still the most important person to her. Dora also still considers Gemma family. Though she is confused as to their relationship, Gemma was a mother figure to her for much of her life. Dora also has two adopted siblings, Saffron and Alex. Dora loves Saffron for her spunk. Alex is the quieter, more timid one, and while Dora isn’t outwardly shy, she can identify and tends to coddle him. Personal background: Nymphadora was born in April, 1972 to Andromeda and Ted Tonks, much to the disappointment and anger of most of Andromeda’s family. Up until that point, the Blacks had all hoped that Andromeda would come to her senses and leave her mudblood husband, but a baby was the last nail in the coffin. Andromeda, who had spent her childhood as a good student and a good pureblood girl, was blasted off her family tree the day little Nymphadora was born. Of course, Dora spent most of her childhood blissfully unaware of all the fighting her arrival had caused. She was a cheerful, normal baby. Well, as normal as any metamorphmagus can be. Life was wonderful. Well, wonderful at least until sometime after her third birthday. Likely because of her parents’ high profile interblood marriage and blatant support of muggleborn and halfblood rights, late one evening Death Eaters managed to break through the Tonks’ wards and into their home. Andromeda was killed in her sleep. Ted met them in the halls, and attempted to fight. Waking from all the commotion, she saw the flash of green from underneath the door as her father was killed. Dora hid in her toy chest and took on the appearance of a rag doll, with thick, yarn like clumps of hair and pale skin. The Death Eaters searched the room, even opening the toy chest, but as Dora’s abilities were not widely known at the time, they left, thinking that Dora had been away at the time. It was Sirius who discovered the Tonkses the next morning, and as soon as he entered her room, Dora ran to him and begged him not to leave her. After this, she didn’t speak again for a month, and still has nightmares about that night. Appearance: Petite, with plain brown hair and plain brown eyes, though, as a metamorphmagus, this is subject to change. Played-by: Ellen Page Personality: The thing to keep in mind with Dora is exactly who she was raised by; she often comes off as a particularly crass, tom-boyish girl, particularly for her age. She’s prone to throwing in the occasional curse word, both out of habit from hearing Sirius, and from an intentional effort to seem older than she is. She can occasionally be sarcastic, and, sometimes, downright mean when she chooses. The types of pranks that Dora has heard tales of from Sirius’s childhood have also become a pastime for her. Being able to change one’s shape is really helpful to pull pranks. Typically, Dora comes off as a mischievous, rebellious teenager trying to act older than she is. Inside, however, Dora is torn. On the one hand are her rebellious tendencies created both by her adoration for Sirius, the ultimate rebel in his day, and her feelings of loneliness and isolation at being an orphan. On the other hand is her strong work ethic, and her feeling that she has to help Sirius with Saffron and Alex as much as she can. She wears her hair strange colors and wants piercings and tattoos, but she’s also a fairly good little house keeper and cook and has changed a number of diapers. Dora does her best to act like an adult, and often thinks she is one. She has recently entered the “I’m all grown up and don’t need you to tell me anything” phase of life, which, as with most teenagers, just makes her seem that much more petulant and bratty. She also tries to act “tough” both with adults and with her peers, and has occasionally gotten into fights at school. She feels she has to prove that she is perfectly capable of taking care of herself, due to the ever present concern that someday Sirius won’t want to take care of her anymore. Due to her past, Dora is particularly sensitive in regard to familial issues. She likes to hear about her parents, but it makes her terribly sad, particularly because she can barely remember them. When anyone else talks about their families, she can seem moody and callous, but it’s because it makes her very sad to have never known a traditional family. She loves Sirius, and even Gemma, but her family life has always been rather unstable. Affiliation and reasoning: Dora is a half blood whose parents were killed by Death Eaters; she not only sides with the Order (which she knows something of at the very least, because she isn’t stupid after all), she very much wants to be a part of it, though Sirius obviously won’t let her at her age. mun; Cheryl aim; lovehasthorns msn; pretty_purple_pixies@hotmail.com e-mail; wings.to.escape@gmail.com portrayed-by; Ellen Page font; Wolves, lower |
